KNOWLEDGE & CONTEXT
Funding & Financing
Align funding programmes, application timing and financing conditions early with project objectives and schedule.
Funding programmes within the project
New-build funding – status: 2 October 2026
Efficiency House 55 (EH55) within the Climate-Friendly New Construction programme: applications must reach KfW no later than 31 December 2026, subject to available federal funds. For projects requiring approval, a valid building permit must be available at the time of application. Contract signing and start of construction must be coordinated in advance with the financing partner.
Climate-Friendly New Construction in the Low-Price Segment (KNN, KfW 296): up to €100,000 in subsidised loans per apartment. Eligible projects must meet programme-specific requirements for energy demand and life-cycle greenhouse-gas emissions. Additional requirements apply to efficient use of living space as well as construction and follow-on costs. Areas, life-cycle costs and technical evidence must be assessed early. The EH55 deadline is not a general deadline for all new-build programmes.
Refurbishment: KfW 261 is assessed separately – new-build and refurbishment funding have different requirements.
Housing funding in Schleswig-Holstein 2027: check the procedural status
Status: 2 October 2026
€400 million is available for 2027. The regular deadlines for the municipal project list (1 September 2026) and pre-qualification documents to IB.SH (30 September 2026) have expired. Project selection is expected at the end of November / beginning of December.
What matters now: clarify procedural status and open points with IB.SH and the municipality. For new or incomplete projects, further consideration must be coordinated individually; pre-qualification does not constitute a funding commitment.
Municipal infrastructure: funding requires project preparation
Status: 2 October 2026
Since July 2026, municipalities in Schleswig-Holstein have been able to submit applications under the infrastructure special fund. Around €2.1 billion is earmarked for the municipal pillar.
